At this level of competition any distraction can be costly and comfort is paramount! And you could clearly see Nadal pick his butt repeatedly during his matches at the Australian Open 2012. They have designer clothes, often even color coordinating outfits with their support team in the boxes court side. Significant endorsement money drives what they wear on and off the court. Just notice the “RAFA” on Nadal’s tennis shoes provided by Nike. Nike have complete Federer and Nadal clothing lines available online from the Australian Open. Most surprisingly though, Nadal also receives endorsements from Armani and has a phenomenal ‘brief’ campaign, just view the commercial. Delicious!!

So why is it that Nadal could not find underwear that was comfortable for his week in Australia? Perhaps Armani is paying Rafael in money and not product? Perhaps he isn’t wearing any underwear? Nike should be scared if he is wearing their products. Clearly they need to rethink the shorts, perhaps with a liner in their tennis shorts and not just a “Mesh gusset for excellent breathability”. Come on Nike, you should be able to do better.

I may be blonde but… so i start thinking that it would be a great underwear commercial…

Hanes in particular comes to mind. They have been playing with a particular theme in advertising for some years.

“Gentlemen Prefer Hanes”.
“The lady prefers Hanes”.
“Just wait’ll we get our Hanes on you.”
“Look who we’ve got our Hanes on now”,

What about the slogan “It wouldn’t happen with Hanes!” Hanes love to use athletes & other celebrities to promote their products. Who can forget the magnificent Michael Jordan commercials?

So I visit the corporate website and behold… Here is their disclaimer:

What underwear does Nadal wear?

A couple of things surprised me last week with Dionne… saying she would pity Marlee or a character in a book with a deaf child… and when Marlee responded, Dionne told the interpreter to “stay out of it!” when all he was doing was interpreting!

A great trait for any leader is to be a good team mate and a good follower. And just because Donne can sing, doesn’t make her a good leader. I am glad Dionne and her legendary status is off the show.
